Who am I?

My photo
An individual, of no great importance, who is unable to see the natural world as a place for competition. I catch fish, watch birds, derive immense pleasure from simply looking at butterflies, moths, bumble-bees, etc - without the need for rules! I am Dylan and this is my blog - if my opinions offend? Speechless!

So I'll say nothing!

  1. I'd say for a Common Carp, that's a decidedly Un-Common Carp.
    Well done that man!

    1. Richie - it was a bloody beauty, although, not quite as un-common as you might think? It is Benno's PB and, as such, a fantastic experience to be part of - I netted it! (Just as I had with his first double-figure barbel) - Dyl

  2. How big?!?!? How on earth did he land that without snapping a line? Yup....impressive!

    1. Lucy, as angler's, we don't attempt to land these big fish by lifting them clear of the water, hanging on a hook! Modern tackle and methods are based upon balanced gear - line which is strong enough (and abrasion resistant) to cope with the tussle whilst the rods are designed to absorb the shock of the various surges of the fish as it battles for its' freedom. It was a very big fish - the weight will remain a mystery until after we've completed our project. I do hope you understand? Thanks, once again, for the comment - you're right, it was very impressive! - Dylan

    1. Ron, great to hear from you - hoping all is well? Benno, Luke and myself are hoping that this is the start of another adventure, similar to the barbel campaign of 2013/14. We are well aware that we are not the only guys doing it, but feel sure of a "chunk" to one of us if we remain focussed. Quite what else we discover is in the lap of the angling gods! Tight lines mate - Dyl
