Who am I?

An individual, of no great importance, who is unable to see the natural world as a place for competition. I catch fish, watch birds, derive immense pleasure from simply looking at butterflies, moths, bumble-bees, etc - without the need for rules! I am Dylan and this is my blog - if my opinions offend? Don't bother logging on again - simple!

Sunshine (memories) on a rainy day

I don't know when I'll next get out, such is the influence that current, unsettled, and very variable weather, conditions are having on the local fisheries. Cold does nothing to assist arthritis, my hands less able to do simple things, than during warmer weather. To be perfectly honest I no longer enjoy pushing myself, in inclement weather, when it is a problem to do the things which I used to take for granted. Let's get this right, I'm certainly not incapable of using my hands, when it's cold, but I do struggle with my grip, which can be a problem when unhooking pike and/or packing my kit away. If I don't enjoy it, then why do it? Rain is falling, driven on by 40 mph southerly gales, and I find myself looking at old photos; reliving moments when the sun shone brightly from a Mediterranean sky. These images will mean very little to others, yet they make me smile, feel warm, and recall memories of great times in fantastic company - a glass of Mythos close to hand.












This damselfly is a complete mystery. The smallest example of this family that I've ever seen.

All of these images were taken, in September 2017, whilst we were enjoying our Kefalonian holiday. Very happy days!

    Lovely to hear from you Dylan and I love your photographs too. Glad we agree about Derek. I agree with you in that we write
    about what we wish to write about and if people don't find it interesting then they don't need to visit do they?
    I am a great nature lover and when a farmer's wife could write about what was happening on the farm, both work wise and nature wise. But now that i am a widow and have moved into our little town circumstances have changed and like you, I am coping with arthritis. But there is always something interesting to write about and I shall continue to do so as I enjoy the daily discipline. I hope Derek continues too. Thanks for calling.

    Welcome aboard this crazy adventure. Getting old isn't much fun if you allow others to dictate your path. Health and happiness have to be the overriding factors in all aspects of our existence. I'm a very proud father, but it's my grandchildren which have made my life so special. I care not if I catch a fish, see a bird or marvel at an unknown plant/insect - as long as I'm active then my world is good. Thank-you, so much, for taking the time to comment - much appreciated.
