A Guy Fawkes Pike

It was a little before 04.30 hrs, this morning, that Bruno and I headed off down to the RMC for our first session in over two weeks. Thankfully, a Pike had read the same script as I had which resulted in my first "double" of the campaign. No monster but, at eleven pounds fourteen ounces, most welcome all the same.

I'd been hoping that the local college would hold a firework display, yet this was negated when a phone call from my  grand-daughter, Emily, asked if I would accompany her to Broadstairs for their event? A quick lesson, via Google, ensured that I took my camera gear in the hope of getting some images to accompany this post. Not an area of the photographic sphere that I have any inspirations to master, the images I managed tonight, were certainly an improvement on anything I've managed previously.

Already had a couple of Perch sessions whilst awaiting conditions on the RMC to improve. Sadly nothing to report, thus far, but am certainly hopeful of some action once the temps start to drop.

  1. That's the ticket Dyl. A few more of those would be handy. Great shot of the fireworks. These digital cameras are something else.

    1. Cheers Ric,
Always nice to get off the mark, even if it was only a very modest Pike. As for the technology housed within a digital camera? Way beyond anything I could have imaged during my Kodak days!!!!

    1. Cheers Brian,
Off to a very slow start, yet I'm hopeful that things will improve as the temperatures start to fall away. Good luck with your own efforts on the Wye.

  3. Hello Dyan- Smashing pike, mate! - Quite serpentine that one. Broadstairs looks suitably gorgeous- the fireworks there are great, aren't they? Me and my brother walked round Stodmarsh today. So achingly lovely at this time of year. I'm going to get my pike and perch rods out soon... God Bless, Gazza

    1. Hi Gazza,
That Pike is fairly typical of RMC fish at this time of year. Long, lean and washed out in appearance due to the dirty water conditions they live in. Broadstairs fireworks was absolutely brilliant and I'm indebted to the Youtube contributors whose info was invaluable for me as I sought to get some better images of the display.
Bruno and I are fairly regular visitors to the Stodmarsh/Grove Ferry NNR and are never disappointed with the time spent there. Good luck with your own Pike & Perch angling - Tight Lines - Dyl
