Whilst listening to the Radio 5 Live commentary, of PSG vs Aston Villa, I have also been watching the feeding bowls placed on the patio. Although seeing a Fox and Hedgehog at the same bowl isn't particularly unusual, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to grab an image, tonight, with both animals feeding side on to my position.
Taken from within my study (man cave) - tackle room, thus through a double-glazed window, it is still a very pleasing image of something which must happen frequently but, because it is during the hours of darkness, very few have been privileged to witness?
Nice photo , we have them eating together fairly often in the front garden where I put food out for the foxes. Neighbours with cats were previously concerned about my feeding thinking that the foxes would kill them and over a few years I’ve managed to convince them that they always try to avoid each other and if a conflict did happen it would probably be the fox that would come off worse ! As no doubt would happen if a fox wanted to make a meal of a hedgehog ! Although apparently badgers do kill and eat them, don’t believe it’s ever been filmed though.
ReplyDeleteI simply enjoy watching the antics around the feeding station and having the camera kit handy to record events which, however common, remain unseen by the vast majority of people due to the fact that they occur after dark. I actually watched a Fox eating a Hedgehog one evening, yet feel sure that it was a road kill victim and the Fox just taking advantage of the free meal.
