Who am I?

My photo
An individual, of no great importance, who is unable to see the natural world as a place for competition. I catch fish, watch birds, derive immense pleasure from simply looking at butterflies, moths, bumble-bees, etc - without the need for rules! I am Dylan and this is my blog - if my opinions offend? Don't bother logging on again - simple!

For the Love of God

Probably not the best choice for the title of a blog post? I've spent the majority of my day watching the BBC News Channel. The more that becomes known simply reinforces the fact that my head can't cope with this nonsensical situation. I've listened to politicians, anti-terrorism experts, church leaders and devout Muslims - none of whom are able to sympathise with the ISIS ideology that under-pinned these atrocities.
So, once again, I find myself drawn to the power of music to clear my mind - listen to this Steve Vai track.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiTXGswyAls
It might not make things any better, but you will have witnessed musical genius and have a clearer vision of why, I believe, we should all be allowed to live life as individuals!

  1. It must be over 20 years ago that I first heard 'For the Love of God'. As a bloke who once played guitar in a band, at the time I briefly imagined what it would be like to let rip with it in a pub. Awesome! I thought, knowing it was lightyears beyond my skills. And then a few years ago I saw a young instrumental band cover it in a pub in Seaton. I was gobsmacked. The guitarist nailed it! And awesome it was! Good choice Dylan.

    1. Welcome back to "Blogland" - I echo Steve's sentiments - you've been away too long. The need to delve into my musical heritage was borne from the frustration at my lack of eloquence. I wasn't able to find the language to describe my utter dismay to the actions, of so few, which created such havoc in Paris. I've been very lucky to have seen Steve Vai play live on many occasions - he is, as I've already alluded to - a genius with a guitar. What he, and I, are not - is politicians - live and let live being the message that I hoped to purvey. Hoping all is well in deepest Devon - Dyl
