It's of absolutely no importance if I catch, or not. Just being there is what fires my imagination, rekindles enthusiasm and is, on hearing those distant chimes, like a starting pistol for the adventures ahead. Isaac Walton said "Study to be quiet" Dick Walker made comment that "There's more than luck to catching a big fish" Come midnight I'll raise a glass (well a can of San Miguel) and toast all those fellow anglers who've inspired me to chase my dreams. Bring it on and let's see where it leads?
Best of luck 🎣🎣🎣🎣
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark - I had a great time
DeleteThe Kent Wildfowlers that I speak to have the same special date that can't be missed. Come rain or shine they like to be out before dawn on the 1st September, start of the wildfowl shooting season. Strange these ritual dates that some of us have.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it's whatever floats your boat? Grouse shooters have their "Glorious 12th" and horse racing crowds have Cheltenham, Goodwood and Aintree Festivals to celebrate each year. If you don't share the interest, utterly pointless dates on a calendar, however if it is your thing then something very special to look forward to? As you say, all rather strange how people's interests can play such a pivotal part in their lives?
