I too owned an Intrepid Black Prince fishing reel when I was a young boy, replacing it with the superior Prince Regent as my interest grew. As far as I am aware, eels were never covered by the close season ruling due to the fact that they don't breed in our lakes, ponds and rivers. Obviously local by-laws might say otherwise? I'll pass on your message to Gadget when next I see him - might bump into you some time during the Spring when I get out to do some birding again! I do, however, recognise that there are far superior image takers plying their trade in this same medium. I'm not particularly worried by this state of affairs, because I can be confident that not one of them has ever caught an eel in January! We can't be good at everything, can we?
